January.......what a bloody awful month, we are all delighted to get January out of the way. Snow on snow on snow and ice kept us off of the gallops for 12 days and unable to get anything other than a 4x4 up or down our lane. We were able to just use a field behind the yard and the walker did overtime, so were able to keep most ticking over. Unfortunately, there is no substitute for fast work when it comes to racehorses so consequently we have had very few runners to date this year.

NEW
=====
2007 grey gelding by Imperial Dancer
====================================
'ROY' arrived beginning of the month a nice horse with a bit of size about him. We shall be able to get a better idea of which direction to take with him over the next few weeks

Silber Mond
===========

I have decided to draw stumps on him, a recurrence of his respiratory problems for no obvious reason means that he will be looking for a new career in a less pressured environment. Its a shame as he has the ability.

MOHANAD
=======
Happily back in full work with seemingly no ill effects. Plans are a little fluid as to when he will run next, but should be in April time. I believe there is so much to look forward to with him under both codes as he is fairly handicapped both flat and NH.

EASTON CLUMP
============

The snow was a little bit of a blessing for him as he had a harder race than anyone would have liked for a first timer at Newbury, so it meant that he has been given plenty of time to recover and be ready for next time. He jumps really well but is getting plenty of schooling for his hurdling debut sometime in February and is now working quite brilliantly, with his Newbury conqueror winning again under a penalty there is every reason to hope he has a really bright future.

FLYINFLYOUT
============

She is in work now and like all of Mick's ex horses has settled in like she's always been here. I don't know yet whether we will go straight jumping or carry on on the flat. I shall see how she comes along and she'll let us know the right way to go.

GOODWOOD STARLIGHT
==================

Really happy with his progress and he is staying as calm and as chilled a possible. Robert Lucey Butler is riding him every week now and describes him as 'awesome'. Rob is coming in to ride him as it was felt that a continuity was crucial to the horses well being and racing future. so in an effort to recapturing his sparkling 3 year old form absolutely every welfare, veterinary, shoeing and riding angle is being pre-empted before it becomes an issue and fingers crossed everybody involved will benefit.

FORTY THIRTY
============

He's doing well and amazingly on ratings is still on of the better juvenille hurdlers around. It was felt last autumn that Aintree would suit him better than Cheltenham so he is being aimed there rather than Cheltenham, possibly have a run jumping or flat first and will be lovely fresh and ready come April.

WHIPPERWAY (FOR SALE)
=====================

Will definitely win over hurdles early summer. Currently working well and as tough as they come. She missed a run on the flat beginning of the year as we were snowed in but will run on the AW very soon.

REACTION (FOR SALE)
===================

Tigger made his hurdling debut at the Cheltenham Trails meeting. He looked so green and struggled abit on really tacky ground. There was more than a little considered thought in running in a grade 2 first time out. Starting with the fact that he will be quite good! Quickly followed by the fact that we have run out of time to realistically get him ready for the Fred Winter at The Festival but quite aware that he is more than capable of winning a juvenille and the question of how he would cope with Cheltenham also needed addressing. Also the niggle in the back of the mind that despite being a 7 furlong winner he would get a trip no problem. By the time all this is combined with the fact that the horse still has a flat career all led to him running last week. I would have been very happy if he'd have won, but what we really didn't want to do was win a little race somewhere else, get a handicap mark, not get to The Festival and not be a novice for next year. So all in all it was a look see that turned out informative. He is good but he is too green for a race like The Triumph. On how he finished two and a half miles would look to suit him better next season. I may run him over hurdles again but probably he will go back on the flat (turf) he doesn't like the AW and in the new season (MAY) we can try and win something with Cheltenham 2011 in mind...................we all love a plan!!

MISS BOLTE
==========

She is doing great, working well and should debut end of February.

APPOINTMENT
===========

She is entered for next Monday at Lingfield. We are pleased with her progress and schooling well. She stays all day and likes the mud but will probably need to be handicapped.

LAST ONE STANDING
=================

Well the ground and weather are absolutely hopeless for him and we have backed of him a little till it all comes together a bit better for him. He is feeling amazingly well and can't wait for him to eventually run.

SCREAMING BRAVE
===============

Was enjoying a break, and put on some weight in 4 weeks but looking at the juveniles around this year he is now back in work with the Fred Winter in mind. He needs to improve a bit but he's well open to it especially if we can get some better ground. He's very tough and a pleasure to train.

BLAZING BOLTE
=============

Was ready and entered in the New Year and was going very well too but the weather did what it did and have taken an on balance decision to give her a little break until the sun comes out!

GEOFFDAW
========

Hasn't run for a couple of weeks and is well. A shortage of hurdle races for him at present and will have a spin on the AW. It will be interesting to see how he gets on back on a sound surface and up in trip.

GOLAN WAY
=========

He's one we did manage to keep going reasonably well. He was beaten too far out for it to be the trip on Saturday, but as I've said previously that really was disgusting ground and the overriding feeling is that he just couldn't act on it. At the time of writing nothing else has materialized as a reason and he is quite tired for him. This run would rule out the World Hurdle as he was running to see if he were good enough and on all visible evidence (whatever the reasons) he did unfortunately fall short of what is required. Watching him school over fences last week, his winning days are far from over though!

KASHMINA
=========

She's on her break for a couple more weeks

WHITEROCKS
==========

I thought he did really well last week at Lingfield. Once he got going he didn't want to stop and he will have cheekpieces on next time, which will be Friday, a 2 mile handicap.........perfect!

TOBAGO BAY
==========

Well back in the grove of things, a naturally fit horse he'll take little getting ready for Cheltenham.

TARAWA ATOLL
============

On the walker for another week and will recommence ridden work next week.

SON OF KARINGA
===============

Well back on track and going well. Soon we shall see him run.
