NEWS AND UPDATES FOR MARCH 2010

TOBAGO BAY 3RD AT KEMPTON 23RD MARCH 2010

A great result for Tobago Bay after a 158 day break. It had been hoped that Tobago would have had his chance at The Cheltenham Festival last week but sadly he missed out by 3 horses. Kempton (still a Grade 1 track!) was the back up and he certainly wasn't disgraced. As usual, Jamie kept him up with the pace throughout but just found a couple of horses better than him. Jamie was delighted with the feel Tobago Bay gave him and the owners present were also happy with the 16/1 price that was available, with one lucky owner finding 20/1.

Congratulations to the owners, Heart of The South Racing who turned up in force to support Tobago Bay.

===========================

Tobago Bay wasn´t asked to dominate as he prefers on this return from a 158-day break, but gave his all and turned in a very pleasing comeback effort.

So that's another wearing, cold and miserable and wet month gone by. On a positive note it is at least a little bit lighter for a little bit longer. The lambing is now well under way with the first 500 nearly done before another 300 over Easter time.

Some of the horses have their summer coats coming through and the broodmare is getting ever larger with her Tobougg foal.

Updates
=======

Mohanad
=======
He's now back in full work and is well. A minor setback meant he missed a couple of pieces of work which ruled out any possibility of making it to Cheltenham, so he is on course for a handicap hurdle at what was the Whitbread meeting at Sandown.

Roy (Stable name) 2007 grey gelding by Imperial Dancer ex Spatham Rose
================================================

Roy arrived beginning of February and is doing well here. At present he is showing enough that he could have a run or two on the flat before going Juvenile hurdling in the summer and everybody likes him!

Easton Clump
============

Finally we managed to find a meeting on for his hurdling debut at Warwick. It was a better race than I'd hoped to find him, but he acquitted himself well and was still in 3rd position before tiring in the home straight to finish 7th. His jumping needs to be tidied up and he should do well in the future.

FLYINFLYOUT
===========

She is now doing plenty of work and we are pleased with her. Still haven't made a solid plan as whether to give her a few flat runs before jumping. There is still a 10% share available in her at £500 + £125 a month plus VAT. For anyone interested, please call Martin Gregory 07702424069

GOODWOOD STARLIGHT
==================
No problems with him and on course for the 1st of April at Folkestone. Rob Butler has been working him every week at home since January so he knows his little idiosyncrasies and we are all looking forward to him running.

FORTY THIRTY
============

In full work and going very nicely

WHIPPERWAY
==========

Ran over 1m 2 and didn't appear to get home so I ran her over the mile and they always seemed to be going a bit quick for her. We probably won't make so much use of her over a bit further next time. That said she'll be fine when she goes jumping.

REACTION
========

He followed up his fine 3rd with a good 4th at Huntingdon and has been given a handicap mark of 125 which shows the expected fair level of ability he has. He is open to plenty of improvement on less testing ground than he has encountered so far and there is plenty to look forward to with him in the coming months.

MISS BOLTE
==========
Debuted at Kempton where she ran well to be 5th, Bless her the little love it was a big day for her not least as it was her first time in a lorry. She was immaculately behaved and showed plenty of promise for the future.

APPOINTMENT
===========

Was pleased with her at Plumpton after such a long time off the track and she progressed again to be 2nd at Folkestone. She now has a handicap mark of 95, which I suppose we can do something with. She is now in very good order and we'll look for a suitable race for her.

LAST ONE STANDING
==================

The ground is drying out for him and now there is a serious danger he might run soon!

SCREAMING BRAVE
===============

He's going well after his short break, but not coming to hand as quick as I'd like him too, but at least the ground is drying for him as well.

BLAZING BOLTE
=============
She has had a short break through February and one or two heart stopping moments to say the least, but will be back cantering in the next couple of weeks and be ready for her preferred good ground.

GEOFFDAW
========

He ran well at Lingfield to be 3rd and then didn't run so well at all. He has been suffering with a foot infection but is now back in fast work. I am looking for a handicap not to far from home for him, then he will have a try chasing in the spring.

GOLAN WAY
=========

He was very disappointing at Fontwell to say the least and no physical reason has shown up. It's not the end of the world and he will go chasing next season. Still undecided as to exactly when, but he is being prepared for a break now. He's doing a bit of schooling while he is being wound down and there is certainly plenty to look forward to with him.

KASHMINA
========

She's back in full work and being prepared for another summer of racing. She is an incredibly tough and genuine mare and will no doubt win her couple or so races again this year.

WHITEROCKS
==========

He cut him self quite badly when he fell at Plumpton and is now having a break while everything heals up.

TOBAGO BAY
==========

Well on course for Cheltenham and I dearly hope that he gets into the Martin Pipe race 11 stone 1 lb would be plenty to get into most handicaps but he needs a few to come out before he gets a run. Fingers crossed they will.

TARAWA ATOLL
============

Really pleased with how she's coming along. A sweet genuine filly with a race or two in her.

SON OF KARINGA
===============

Hey, Ted finally got to the track! He behaved himself well throughout without boiling over in the prelims, or taking off during the race itself. The end result doesn't look that great but how he went about it was. He's come out of the race with his head still on his neck and still seems to have enjoyed it. We now feel able to get more work into him at home and want to see the little steps of progress turn in to big strides.
