UPDATES AND NEWS FOR JULY 2009
GOOD LUCK TO BLAZING BOLTE AND SHEENA'S NEW OWNER'S TODAY!
Monday 27th July 2009
Debut for one of Sheena's home bred's at Uttoxeter today!
Firstly, I would like to say thank you to Michael and Pascal for a lovely day at Ascot races yesterday. It was Michael's Birthday and he kindly invited Sheena and I to attend his celebrations in a lovely box over looking the racetrack. It was a great day and it was so nice to meet Michael, Pascal and their family and friends. Thank you again, Michael.
Michael and some of his friends have purchased two fillies both bred by Sheena. Blazing Bolte is the first of the two 4YO fillies to grace the race track and I would like to take this opportunity in wishing Michael, Pascal and the other partner's a thoroughly enjoyable evenings racing. Currently trading around 50/1 I am sure Sheena wouldn't put them off putting a £2 each way on Blazing Bolte's debut. Sheena has high hopes for this filly so it's all down to Blazing Bolte and Jamie Goldstein to show us what they are capable of today.

MARK GOLDSTEIN BACK IN THE SADDLE - STORY COURTESY OF THE RACING POST
Goldstein returns to saddle after horror fall By Graham Green7.54AM 23 JUL 2009
JOCKEY Marc Goldstein, who suffered a catalogue of injuries in a fall at Fakenham on Easter Monday, sat on a horse for the first time since his accident on Thursday morning.
Goldstein took the major stride on the comeback trail at Sheena West's Lewes stable 24 hours after being giventhe all clear to ride out by his specialist.
The 23-year-old was treated in three hospitals after fracturing his pelvis in two places, dislocating and fracturing his left elbow, splintering a bone on his left heel, and sustaining facial damage that included several teeth pushed out of his lower lip.
"I'm still unfit at the moment because I haven't done anything for three months, but now I can start pushing on a bit with a workout," said Goldstein, the younger brother of jockey Jamie Goldstein.
"I've been in the wars, but believe it or not the only thing holding me back now is just the ankle, which I chipped a bit of, but it's all the ligaments around it."

Owners and their friends are always welcome at the yard. Here is Mark saying hello to Golan Way and Martin having a chat with Itsawindup!

June was a very hot month this year as everyone will know. Our evening stables often consisted of a hosing down rather than a formal grooming. The trouble was the water was actually coming out of the hose hot!
News and updates about our horses:
==================================
Silber Mond
============
Is in and cantering still, and happy with things like they are.
Last One Standing
==================
Is cantering every day. The trouble we have is it's now got silly firm in places here and he is one that we'd rather have a little rain before doing too much mjore with him. The main thing is he is well and happy.
Bay Hawk
========
Doing as the two mentioned above. Due to the hard ground there is no point in doing too much more with him at the present.
Golan Way
=========
Back in training last month and will start cantering later this month. Any syndicate members requiring updates on Golan Way, please feel free to call Sheena.
Ladino
=======
Back cantering and behaving like a twit. Hope to run in the autumn.
Tarawa Atoll
============
Has schooled well and we are all pleased with her. We feel she would like a bit of cut in the ground so we aren't in too much of a rush with her. She will be a nice juvenille and is still for sale to a lucky person (come on, come and have a look. She's lovely!)
Its awindup
===========
We hope to get him running end of this month.
Appointment
===========
She should start cantering this month. She's really filled out into a quite big filly now and her futures is in front of her after her setback.
Le Chiffre
==========
He has now started a bit of cantering and will be aimed at the All weather which is what he likes.
Split the Wind
===============
I was happy with her debut and very happy with her following 3rd at Stratford, but not quite so happy with her next run when we thought she'd run better. Sshe didn't travel as she usually does but a positive is that she was only beaten 7 1/2 lengths and was staying on at the end. We've since found that she has a sore foot and when she's back comfortable again she ought to be able to build on what she has achieved already.
Dale
=====
Going really well and working with Kashmina and Split the Wind. She's about ready to run now and looking forward to her racecourse debut and hope she reacts the right way when she does. She's had a trip or two out in the lorry and it will be nice if we can run her when another horse is there to hold her hand!
Kashmina
========
Is now not a maiden anymore having won at Windsor. It was a great evening and was nice to see her fight for her victory. She's had a couple of easy weeks and will go wherever the next best race is either on the flat or hurdles.
Place the Duchess
=================
Best laid plans and all that! There is a definite shortage of races for her as we thought so we keep running into the balloting situation. As a result she had to run at Brighton where she dramatically failed to cope with the hill. She's come out of the race ok and we'll just have to avoid hills in the future!
Tobago Bay
==========
He's in good order and being prepared for the 18th at Market Rasen when we will find out just where he is with his handicap mark.
Forty thirty
============
He's a great little chap. Again schooling well and is happy on fast ground. He'll go to Stratford on the 12th and for the life of me I do not know why no one hasn't snapped up either him or Tarawa Atoll. I can't say enough times - that these two horses ex Mick Channon's are both really nice types and I have a good feeling about them both.
I have had great success with all of Mick's horses when they have a change in career and I can't see these two being any different.
If you are remotely interested, or any of my current owners know of anyone who may be interested please give me a call.I would love to have owners (new or old) on board when they debut on the racetrack.
